I absolutely loved shooting Erica and Brandon's wedding at the Ritz Carlton. Brandon didn't really want to do a "first look" but Erica persuaded him that it would be a more special and intimate moment for them to have alone before taking photos and the ceremony. It certainly was a very special moment. Take a look:

I LOVED shooting this wedding! Nilpa and Tej were so easy and fun to get along with (their British accents probably made it easier and more familiar for me). Tej had an entourage of lads from London who were HILARIOUS! The skits and game-show parodies that they performed at the reception were so bloody funny!
This wedding set the record for the "most amount of footage I ever shot"!! It's a good thing that I really connected with Nilpa and Tej cos I had to look at them for such a long time!! Haha :)

I met this couple at Meredeth's brother's wedding last October and they were so much fun! Meredeth's commentary was hilarious! They were married at the gorgeous Myers Park Methodist Church. I love that church; the old character, the bell-tower ringing out, the sun coming through the stained glass!
I had the pleasure of working alongside my photog pal Critsey Rowe and hubby Thomas. The band Walrus put on quite a show and party. Best wishes to you Mr and Mrs Scott Payne! :)

After Janetta and Shawn tied the knot at New Waves of Joy Baptist Church in Charlotte, they walked down the aisle and outside to where Shawn had a surprise gift for Janetta: a brand new white Land Rover! Nice, eh?! They then partied in a massive reception at the Hilton University. I had fun working alongside my friend photographer Blair Phillips.

Emilee and Houston were married at the Vintage Motor Club in Concord on new year's day! Chelish Moore worked her magic and transformed the Motor Club in to a beautiful venue for both the ceremony and reception. I had a blast working alongside photographer John Huneycutt. One of the highlights for me was during the photography when one of the bridesmaids started to get emotional and tear up; then Emilee started to cry, then her mum ... and then started laughing at the chain reaction! They laughed till they cried till they laughed!

Allyson and Will were married on the sand at Oak Island, NC. It's their favorite place and I could definitely see why! We shot their playful "romantic session" at sunset. They were barefoot at the water's edge walking along the shore, splashing each other and the sunset illuminated the splashing water like crystals. Flocks of birds would drift by while shooting a kiss; it was perfect! Allyson and Will are so easy-going an fun-lovin'; they are perfectly matched!

It was like a storybook wedding; Robert struggled to hold back tears as Shannon made a dramatic entrance - and who could blame him; it was a gorgeous moment! Shannon arrived on a horse-drawn carriage (the music played by BK Entertainment during this was perfect!) and then her father walked her up the aisle to the garden ceremony. Beauuuutiful wedding!

I feel like I really got to know Boston and Shanda through their "wedding journey", starting last April when I shot their Love Story. It got a great reaction from their families and friends when it was shown at the Rehearsal Party!

The reception was on Ashley's parents estate under a large tent - which was definitely needed as the clouds rolled in and poured down! Great timing though. It had been perfect all day; enough to let me and photographer Davey Morgan get all the shots we needed.
They met each other while teaching together in China and so their first dance was a Chinese song that reminded them of how they first met.

I absolutely LOVED Meredith + Adam's wedding at Riverview Manor, VA! Probably because I kinda love these folks anyway from a previous wedding!
There was a great amount of family involvement; it was lovely to see Meredith walking down the aisle with both her mum AND her dad. Her mum Janet, sang (beautifully!!) during the ceremony before giving her away. Her father Myron, was the minister for the ceremony. Then after the vows, Adam picked up his guitar and sang to Meredith!
I worked alongside the talented and creative photographer Crystal George (and Crystal, I hope we work together again soon!).

The rain held off just enough to let everybody make it to the reception tent and then the heavens opened! But nothing could dampen their spirits; it was a great party! One of my favorite moments was watching the little ring bearer bustin' moves on the dance floor - he was hilarious!

This is a shot through the Duke Mansion fountain of Amy and Chandler right after tying the knot at the Great Aunt Stella Center in uptown. They did it right! They took advantage of all this city has to offer! Amy and her girls got ready at the beautiful Duke Mansion. I had fun shooting the guys with Sassyfras Studios in uptown (dodging traffic on the road to get some action shots of Chandler and the guys!) and the reception was at the Big Chill in Dilworth!

I love the Dairy Barn; a rustic, natural setting full of character surrounded by fields and grazing horses! Lauren LOVES horses; one of which tried to eat her bouquet!
I had a ball, as always, shooting with Shirley and Wendy from Fort Mill Photography! Shirley knows all the best spots at the Dairy Barn and it was her idea for Lauren and Drew to toss their bouquet and garter off the top of the silo (the view and sunset from up there was magnificent!)

I love Asheville! - and I loved Beth + Brian's wedding there! This was definitely a unique and gorgeous wedding! The ceremony was in Homewood - a truly unique venue. The outside is a bit like a castle and the inside is very cozy! Beth + Brian were married in front of the large fireplace flanked with flowers, a string trio playing by the window and, from the end of the aisle, the reflection of the fire in the glossy old hardwood floors seemed to double the warmth!
One of my favorite parts was while shooting their "romantics" in the hotel room; Beth jokingly suggested they jump up and down on the bed. They did and they were a lot of fun! All day!!

Thomas and Lindsey's wedding was unbelievable! Thomas arrived by helicopter and the married couple left in the chopper also. They flew over Charlotte and over the Christmas lights at McAdenville before arriving the Embassy Suites Concord to a massive reception. I loved working alongside Split Second Sound and Juliet Photography.
The bride Lindsey, an event planner, had planned her entire wedding and has recently joined the team at Weddings And The City. Congrats Lindsey, I love WATC and you'll be a great asset to them!

Christy and Jason first met at a gym. Jason worked there and Christy bought lessons from him. Cut to a little over a year later; and here we are at their gorgeous wedding! (and I'm not using the word "gorgeous" lightly!) Carolyn Shepard did an amazing job transforming the Westin into a starlit "glowing" ballroom with meticulous attention to every detail!
I loved working alongside Jay and Mimi from Indigo Photography, Alyse Woodward and Split Second Sound.
One of the highlight moments for me was showing their Love Story on the big screen during dinner. I had shot their Love Story a couple of months previous. They each said some very heartfelt comments about their parents and it was a nice candid personal glimpse of themselves and their love for each other.

Seriously! Shannon and Scott should have their own reality show! They are both hilarious and bursting with contagious enthusiastic energy - and not just 'cos it's their wedding day!
They tied the knot at the gorgeous River Landing Country Club in Wallace, NC.
Shannon looked absolutely gorgeous as her father lead her down the aisle. The string quartet played Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" - their song! It got a GREAT reaction from everybody!
There were SO many brilliant highlights for me in this wedding that I don't know where to start and I gotta bet back to editing (crack that whip!)... ok...later!

Nicki and Travis said "I do" in St. Patrick's Cathedral and then partied (and I mean "partied"!!) at a gorgeous reception in Bentley's on 27 in uptown Charlotte.

Bobbi and Ryan got hitched at a ceremony at Bear Creek Marina on Lake James in Nebo, North Carolina. It rained and rained, and so Bobbi had to abandon her plan to arrive to the ceremony by boat. Everything was moved indoors.
I loved that everybody was involved with this wedding; Bobbi's parents were hanging decorations, her bridesmaids were helping with the flowers - everybody came together and were "hands-on" involved with the wedding.

Jennifer and Robert had been dating since they were teenagers and they finally tied the knot in a gorgeous ceremony at First Baptist Church in uptown. It's such a huge, beautiful church with a VERY long aisle. When the doors opened to reveal Jennifer, the daylight behind her created an almost angelic effect. Her father stepped in and took her arm and lead her down the long aisle.
The reception afterward was at The Morehead Inn where Split Second DJs had pretty much every person dancing! It's so much fun with them!
Jennifer and Rob, I had a blast at your wedding (as did all your guests!).

Taylor and Dustin were highschool sweethearts and they finally tied the knot in a gorgeous ceremony at Saratoga Springs. I had absolute blast working with photographer Blair Phillips and his wife Suzanne. Blair is one hilarious bloke!
The bridal party was MASSIVE! Fifteen on Taylor's side and thirteen on Dustin's side. Now that's a party!...and yes it was! Dancing right to end with a chorus of everybody on the dancefloor singing "The Time of my Life" before sending the happy couple off in a Rolls Royce Phantom! Brilliant!

Ashley and Patrick officially "sealed their contract" in St Peter's Catholic Church in uptown Charlotte. A "contract" that originated in high school when they first started dating. Their emotions were very visible as Ashley, escorted by her father, walked the long aisle - my wife had tears in her eyes watching it! (If they let me, I'll post it here.)
There were so many highlights for me in this wedding movie: the exploding golf ball and the exploding champagne bottle to name a few!
I enjoyed working alongside photographer Kate Ashbrook. They planned it well, allowing themselves 90 mins of partying in the limo with their bridal party before the reception!
No rushing here!

Amy and Brian have tied the knot!
They had a beautiful reception at Graylyn Manor - one of my favorite venues. It's got a Harry Potter/Hogwarts character to it which means TONNES of gorgeous video and photo opportunities! Amy put together some great photo slideshows which were played on a large screen during the mother/son and father/daughter dances. That was a really nice touch; their parents definitely loved it!

I had a great time working with wedding planner Faye from Coordinating Dreams. She's got an English accent, I've got an Irish accent and I think by the end of the wedding, Brian and Amy might have picked up a couple of new phrases!

Caren and Greg tied the knot in St Mary's Chapel in uptown Charlotte. After they exchanged vows Greg had written another vow for Caren's daughter Skylar; he called her forward and presented her with a necklace as he said his vow to her. It was a lovely intimate ceremony.

And let me tell ya; they celebrated! Every laugh and smile was genuine and candid! Some of the fly-on-the-wall scenes when Caren was getting ready with her girls were hilarious!!
Trust me; this couple would make a GREAT reality show!!!

Rachel was pampered at the Ballantyne Hotel in the salon which overlooks the pool...and Kid Rock in the pool!! Rachel was quite happy to let him crash her wedding but we think he had other plans for the evening with Lynrd Skynrd - oh well, his loss!
The reception was a blast! Steve's brother (and best man) had put together a slide show as part of his speech. Such a great idea. If my wife and I could do our wedding again, there would definitely be a slideshow!

The reception was gorgeous and bursting with color. When the bridesmaids danced on the stage they were silhouetted against the blue backlit curtain wall (which reminded me of a James Bond movie intro!). Split Second hosted the evening (including a Korean ceremony) and kept the dance floor packed all night!

Sometimes at weddings, I see something and think "if my wife and I could do our wedding over, I'd love to do this"; well, my favorite part was right at the end of the ceremony when a gospel choir entered the church singing "Oh Happy Day"! I had never seen that before. They had everybody clapping and really set the tone for the celebration!

It was my first time working with photographers Jill Schwarzkopf, Ian Riley and planner Nicole Riley and I must say, it was as if we were the same team! They were absolutely great!

This reception was an absolute blast! My friend Niall (back in Ireland) has always been the biggest Michael Jackson fan I've ever known! He would have LOVED this reception! Nothin' but MJ the whole time. Brilliant!

Denise was gorgeous as her father escorted her down the spiral stairs onto the lawn for the ceremony. Once married, the happy couple walked down the aisle and Carlton bust out a celebratory MJ move! (Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that kick is from the "Beat It" video!)

This as my first time shooting at the gorgeous Chateau Elan just outside Atlanta, GA. Shannon and Jinae had a small intimate wedding of about 40 close family and friends. Jinae entered with her father down a long spiral staircase and she was absolutely gorgeous. Shannon did well to control his emotions. This couple are just ab-so-lutely in love!!!! And it's just plain (and uplifting) to see! Congratulations!
It was so hot that they decided to move the wedding from the original lawn area into the sunlit atrium. The reception was in the candlelit wineroom at the vineyard. As they said; they wanted the feel of a destination wedding for all their guests without the long travel. Chateau Elan is perfect!

Thankfully, I have been soooooo busy with shoots and editing, that I have had absolutely no time to update this! Not to mention, my 2 wee cherubs and how much time they take up! But, I beg for your blogging forgiveness and promise that I will stay on top of it from here on.

So much has happened this year so far! I have had some really unbelievable shoots, from Atlanta to Charleston to right here almost in my back garden! The second shoot of this wedding season was back in March and what a way to start the year! Savannah and Jonathan were an amazing couple. He is a pilot and she is a flight attendant. I pulled up to their house and he had his little airplane parked in the driveway!! Now that's big pimpin'! When I say that it rained on their wedding day, I mean it was a torrential downpour!!! Not to be deterred from getting my shots, I spent most of the photo shoot getting drenched outside the Dairy Barn. Trust me, it was well worth it! It turned out a great sequence for their movie. I had an amazing time shooting with Shirley from Fort Mill Photography! She really knows this venue like no other and she got some unbelievable shots that day.

Katie and Chris were wed at St Matthew's Catholic Chapel in Ballantyne and their reception was at Queens University in Myers Park. After the toasts, Chris surprised Katie; he played the keyboard and sang Ben Folds' "The Luckiest" to her. It was a great moment - and I think he surprised everyone!
Katie picked a great song for their movie trailer: "Brighter than Sunshine" by Aqualung. It worked really well!

Shauntay Ramseur and Adrian Cloud were married in Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Statesville. They then had a huge reception in the Statesville Civic Center. Akeisha Walker of Occasions Unlimited was the planner and she was great; absolutely involved, took care of everything and was the last person to leave. Larue Livingston of LyveWyre was the DJ. I love working with Larue; he is a great host, keeps the party going and has a great sense of humor! Laura Huntley, of Greensboro, was the photographer.

Possibly the best dancing at a wedding reception...ever!
Both Heather and Ash teach dance at their Charlotte Latin Dance school. And the wedding party, some of whom had travelled from Curacao, were amazing dancers also. The beautiful outdoor wedding was at the Manor House in Waxhaw.
The photographer was Emilie who was very easy to work with and she did a great job with the final photos.Congratulations Heather and Ash!

Rashanna and Kevin tied the knot at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Rashanna looked absolutely gorgeous and we had a lot of fun doing their photo and video shoot in the Embassy Suites in Concord. Agie was the photographer; I always have a great time working with Agie, having a laugh and getting great natural shots. Whether in the atrium or outside in the rain. Rashanna and Kevin were great sports; they were up for any spontaneous suggestion!

Natasha & Brad tied the knot in the gorgeous Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens. What a great setting for a wedding! Andy from Indigo was their photographer. I really enjoyed working with Andy; he's got great energy and he had the wedding party well entertained, which created some great candid shots!
Natasha and Brad were up for anything when it came to the photos and gave every suggestion a shot. They were a lot of fun, especially when they grabbed each other's hand and dashed through the very unpredictable water tunnel!

Chris & Kristen tied the knot at the Saratoga Springs, Mount Pleasant. The photographer was Bruce Mayhill. Bruce is very easy-going and was a lot of fun to work with. Kristen looked beautiful in her dress. I got some great shots of her in the different rooms of that gorgeous house.
I've got to say; Chris and his groomsmen put on quite a "show" to retrieve the garter! Each strutting their moves in making an attempt, before Kristen pushed them away! It was hilarious!

Kimberly arrived in the horse-drawn carriage. My camera was on Kimberly and our other camera was on Bill. His expression was great; you could feel his excitement!

On a beautiful sunny day in St. Mary's chapel, Gabriel & Amanda tied the knot surrounded by family members from New York to Puerto Rico. Amanda's family are so funny; her mum, Miriam, gets my award! And Amanda's photographer uncle, who was great and easy to work with, added to the hilarious candid dialogue while getting ready at the house! I would watch a reality about them 'cos they are so real and likeable!

This was a gorgeous wedding! And a huge event too, with over 500 people filling the church for the amazing ceremony. All the family, the groom and bridal party made their entrances and took their places at the altar. The entire church was silent in anticipation of Lauren's entrance. Then there was a very unique touch; over the speakers, her father's voice; he spoke a personal message to Lauren remembering when she was first born and telling her of how proud he and her mother are of her. A tenor sang Josh Groban's "You Raise Me Up" as guests stole glances to the back of the church. the doors were still closed. Then, as the song changed key, the tenor sang louder and higher, the doors swung open and Lauren stood there as all eyes turned to see her.
She reminded me of the cover of a French Bridal magazine.DEI held an amazing reception. Chelish Moore provided the flowers. She always does a great job, but this particular reception must have been her masterpiece! Errin from Virtual Sounds kept everything flowing smoothly from the introductions to the exit. In addition to being a DJ, he's an excellent host which is very important at large reception.
Karen from Irresistible Portraits was the photographer. That was my first time working with her and she was excellent. She and I worked very well as a team. I know I am working some future weddings with her again and I look forward to it.

Jordan is a firefighter and his friends and other family members are firefighters too. So it was only fitting that, at the end of the night, he and his new bride made their exit through a tunnel of sparklers and cheers and climbed aboard a vintage "City of Davidson" firetruck honking as it drove away.

Lauren and Jordan, it was a pleasure being part of your wedding!

Aspen & Jay - May 31, 2008

This outdoor wedding, in Shuford Gardens in Hickory, was anything but traditional!
Aspen looked absolutely gorgeous. She was escorted up the aisle by her father to a brass band playing Roy Orbison's "Oh Pretty Woman". As she reached Jay at the top of the aisle the band all shouted "Mercy!" triggering some chuckles among the crowd, and it looked as though that helped Aspen and Jay to relax a little for the short ceremony.
The reading was a little story from "The Velveteen Rabbit" and was very simple, relevant and engaging.
During their big kiss at the end, everybody cheered and waved colorful tassled wands as the newlyweds beamed down the aisle to the brass band's version of "All You Need Is Love".

The photographer, Orange Cat Photo, was real easy and fun to work with and did a great job.
Thank you Jay & Aspen; your wedding was a fun, colorful, fresh blast!

“ Alan! Jay and I JUST watched the video...it actually came on the 5th anniversary of our first date...great timing!

Do they give out Oscars for wedding videos? If they do, I'm totally voting for you! :) That was the most amazing film I have ever seen....Jay and I were literally cracking up the whole time!!! We LOVED how you kept all the casual, funny parts in there....and used the awesome music....and just EVERYTHING! I literally cannot express how awesome it was to watch that video! We were in AWE! It was filmed so flawlessly and cut so, so well. I honestly don't think I have laughed that much in a long, long time. There was not a SECOND where we weren't totally entertained!

And just so you know, having you around, with you being so relaxed and fun the whole day, was awesome. You made everyone feel so comfortable and it really showed in the video!

Your film totally completed my whole wedding! I am so happy to have ALL those memories, the crazy ones, the funny ones, and the tiny little things that I was too busy on the day of to see! I will (and have already been) recommend you like to crazy to anyone I come within twenty feet of! You have a honest, awesome talent and I am so grateful that we were able to be a part of that! I've got all the other copies of the videos holed up, and I am not letting anyone see them until we do the big premiere!

Congratulations Kate & Bryce!

Their wedding was in the beautiful and historic Van Landingham Estate in Charlotte. Aside from the lush gardens, pond and the waterfall, the character of the house and the room where Kate got ready were all great photo and video opportunities.

The lawn where the ceremony took place was perfect too, because we were able to hide off to the sides and get perfect over-the-shoulder shots of Kate and Bryce. The string quartet added a really nice touch and as for the birds singing; that's the most amount of "bird-singing" I've ever heard at an outdoor wedding! It was really a gorgeous ceremony.

Kate had five bridesmaids while Bryce had TEN! So when taking shots of the lads, it was like Ocean's Eleven! I got some great action shots of all the guys. George and Cheryl from Catch Light were the photographers and I'm sure they got great ones also. That bridal portrait that George did was like a magazine cover!

The reception was great. Kate's dad gave a great toast and it was so funny when, in the middle of it, he recites the rap song "Regulators" by Warren G & Nate Dogg! I'm sure Bryce and Kate (and her dad!) are gonna get a kick out of watching that again!

Anyway, to Kate and Bryce, I want to wish you all the best! Your wedding was gorgeous and a blast! Enjoy your movie and I'd love to hear your comments so feel free to post a reply.
